We call these “Fine’s Facts”

On plane
The shaft of each club travels on the same imaginary flat surface; imagine a plane of glass extending through the shaft in all directions.

Staying on plane – The Benefit
Returning the putter / club head to exact same position previously achieved at set up

How to stay on plane
Set up neutral
Firm wrists and simply rock or roll shoulders around top of spine

Neutral Set Up
Club in center of stance, square feet/arms/shoulders to the target line – ball in front of putter head directly underneath leading eye

Feet position
Both feet should be square to putter head and target line

Feet alignment
In the square set up, the feet should point on a parallel line to the target line, equidistant to the left of the target (line or hole) with the same distance as it is between the ball and toes of shoes at address

Target Line
The shaft always traces the target line of the ball

Putter head
It will open slightly on the backstroke, close at impact and close slightly on follow through

Proper Stroke
Make the follow through slightly longer than the backs stroke

Proper Rhythm
Tempo of swing speed should be the same on back stroke and follow through

Proper Putting Grip
Place grip in center of hands…. sole the palms of each hand on the grip and thumbs lay flat on front of grip, other fingers gently wrap around grip, equal pressure on all 10 fingers

Grip “fixes”
If you “pull” your putts and you are “on plane”, grip slightly firmer with leading hand
For “push” putts, grip slightly firmer with trailing hand
